BERLIN, OCTOBER 14 /SRNA/ - Co-chair of the Alternative for Germany /AfD/ party Alice Weidel has called for a referendum on aid to Ukraine, claiming that EUR 100 billion has already been sent to Kyiv against the wishes of German taxpayers.
"Who actually asked German voters whether they wanted this?" she asked in a video address on X, stating that Berlin had already "pumped" EUR 100 billion into Kyiv's war machine.
Weidel believes that continued financial and military support is prolonging the conflict and turning it into a bottomless pit, and therefore called for a referendum to ensure that the will of the people is taken into account.
"Germany is now almost the only country financing this war," Weidel stressed, reiterating that her party supports ending activities that harm the German economy and population, such as funding Kyiv and severing ties with Moscow.
