BERLIN, OCTOBER 12 /SRNA/ - Co-chair of the Alternative for Germany /AfD/ party Alice Weidel drew attention to 358 documented cases of child marriages among Muslim residents in the state of Baden-Württemberg alone and accused the German Government of doing nothing about the issue.

"Hundreds of child marriages in Baden-Württemberg alone: an AfD parliamentary inquiry not only reveals the consequences of uncontrolled mass migration, but also the fact that the Christian Democratic Union has tolerated this situation for more than a decade. All of this will only come to an end through the involvement of the AfD," Weidel said in a post on X.

She recalled that courts legally annulled only eight such marriages between 2018 and 2024, including the case of an 11-year-old girl from Iraq who was married to a 17-year-old.

According to Weidel, official data from the state government show that most cases involve migrant families from Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan, where such marriages are normalized in Muslim communities.

Weidel added that the continuation of the practice of illegal marriages was caused by migration policy, and accused the Christian Democratic Union and the German Government of tolerating this gross violation of human rights and the law.
