AMERICA WILL NOT SEND GROUND TROOPS TO CHANGE THE REGIME IN IRAN

WASHINGTON, JULY 15 /SRNA/ - US Vice President James David Vance said that Washington would not deploy ground troops to bring about regime change in Iran, despite pressure from some conservative politicians, including former US Vice President Mike Pence.

"They simply want the military campaign to continue forever and cannot really identify what they are actually trying to achieve. Some of them want us to achieve a complete change in Iran's government," Vance said.

He stressed that it is up to the Iranian people if they wish to rise up and change their government.

"But we are not going to send 150,000 troops to achieve regime change unless the people on the ground want that outcome. We are not going to send troops regardless," Vance said.

He noted that bombing Iran is not enough and that diplomacy is also needed to resolve the conflict, the Bahá portal reported.
