WASHINGTON, OCTOBER 9 /SRNA/ - US Vice President JD Vance said he would not watch the execution of Nidal Hasan, who was sentenced to death, if it is broadcast live.

"I saw the reports. I don’t know whether it will actually happen. If it is livestreamed, I won’t watch it," Vance told reporters in Lima, Ohio.

Vance pointed to the severity of Hasan's 2009 attack at Fort Hood in Texas, describing it as "the deadliest terrorist attack on US soil apart from September 11, 2001."

According to Vance, Hasan targeted soldiers he was supposed to be caring for because of mental health problems.

US President Donald Trump approved Hasan's execution after he carried out the attack on the Texas military base, inspired by Al Qaeda.

Hasan killed 13 people, 12 of them soldiers, and wounded 30 others. He was shot and wounded by a police officer responding to the attack.

His execution would be the first carried out by a US military firing squad since 1945.
