LINTA: USTASHIZATION OF CROATIA STATE PROJECT THAT CULMINATES

BELGRADE, FEBRUARY 3 /SRNA/ – President of the Alliance of Serbs from the Region Miodrag Linta told SRNA that today, when the leading Croatian and European fascist Marko Perković Thompson has "become a symbol and the measure of everything in Croatia," it is clear that the process of rehabilitating Ustashism and fascism in that country has been a state project for the past 35 years.

Commenting on Thompson's performance at the celebration of the bronze medal won by the Croatian national handball team, which despite opposition from the city authorities, was held based on the Croatian Government's decision - Linta emphasized that this decision, like a series of other decisions by the legislative, executive, and judicial authorities since 1990, confirms that Ustashism is a project of the state authorities, which is now reaching its culmination.

"The consequence of these decisions is that the vast majority of young Croats are Ustasha-oriented and are followers of the genocidal regime of the NDH and Ante Pavelić, which is obvious in every situation," Linta believes.

According to him, Croatia is formally and legally founded on antifascism and the decisions of ZAVNOH, but "the true foundation of that country is Ustashism and the NDH".

Linta adds that this is particularly disturbing for the small number of Serbs in Croatia, noting that on the very day when celebrations with Thompson were held in Zagreb, graffiti appeared at the entrance to the Serb-populated village of Glušci outside Metković bearing messages such as "Hang the Serbs on willows" and Ustasha symbols.

He recalled that the same thing happened in September last year, when recognizable messages such as "Kill a Serb" and "For the Homeland - Ready" were sprayed, chants that, along with Thompson, are shouted by the majority of Croats.

Linta expressed concern that in the entire situation there has been no reaction from European institutions, whose member state is "increasingly becoming a factor of instability in the Western Balkans and a negative example to all pro-fascist forces in Europe that it is possible to rehabilitate fascism with impunity".

He emphasized that this represents "Brussels' top hypocrisy, especially given how the European Parliament and other institutions take a critical stance toward Serbia".

"They chose as rapporteur for Serbia a man who was a member of the notorious `Black Mambas` unit and who openly glorifies the criminal Operation Storm, the largest ethnic cleansing in Europe since World War II. On the other hand, they remain silent about the fascization of Croatian society," Linta said.

He reiterated that Serbia must finally adopt a Resolution on genocide against Serbs in the NDH, establish a memorial centre, and launch an active diplomatic, legal, and political struggle for international recognition of the genocide committed against the Serb people in the NDH.
