TRUMP: AMERICA - NEW NAME FOR LAKE ONTARIO

WASHINGTON, AUGUST 27 /SRNA – RIA Novosti/ - US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order renaming Lake Ontario “America.”

“It takes effect immediately. It is happening right now, as I am signing the order,” Trump said from the Oval Office before signing the document.

The US president announced on Tuesday, August 25, that he would rename Lake Ontario following unsuccessful trade talks with Canada and deteriorating relations with Ontario Premier Douglas Ford.

US-Canada trade talks ended without an agreement on Friday, August 21, when the deadline for reaching one expired.

The following day, the US imposed a 50 percent tariff on Canadian imports worth more than $20 billion in total.
