MACBETH INSPIRED SHAKESPEARE AND KUROSAWA

BIJELJINA, AUGUST 13 /SRNA/ - Scottish King Duncan was killed by his protege Macbeth on August 14, 1040, after which Macbeth ruled for 17 years.

Macbeth’s bloody reign, particularly the way he seized the Scottish throne, inspired one of the greatest playwrights of all time, William Shakespeare, to write one of his most famous plays.

The story of Macbeth, who deceitfully murders in his own home the man to whom he owes everything, driven by ambition and a desire for power, and then eliminates in a bloody reign of terror everyone he considers a potential rival, remains one of Shakespeare’s most frequently performed plays to this day.

The great Japanese director Akira Kurosawa also made a film about Macbeth based on Shakespeare’s play.

The film "Throne of Blood" is considered one of Kurosawa’s finest works.
