LUKASHENKO: NUCLEAR WEAPONS WOULD BE USED ONLY IN CASE OF AGGRESSION AGAINST BELARUS

MINSK, MAY 29 /SRNA-RIA Novosti/ - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said he told French President Emmanuel Macron during a phone conversation that nuclear weapons would be used only in the event of aggression against Belarus.

"I said, only in one case - if aggression is committed against Belarus", Lukashenko stated.

He said he invited Macron to meet with him and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Lukashenko stressed that he urged the French president to take the initiative in promoting peaceful dialogue in Europe and invited him to Minsk.

The Belarusian president added that he and Macron discussed negotiations involving Ukraine, Belarus and the United States, and that he agreed to receive an envoy of the French president next week for talks on current issues.
