NEW DELHI, SEPTEMBER 12 /SRNA – RIA Novosti/ - BRICS leaders are worried about the ongoing conflicts around the world, as well as the growing polarization and fragmentation of the global order, according to a declaration adopted at the organization's summit in New Delhi.
BRICS countries called on the international community to address these challenges through diplomatic means, the declaration said.
The leaders stressed the need to strengthen energy security, ensure stability in energy markets and maintain uninterrupted supplies of energy resources.
They also called for more reliable and stable supply chains that consider the needs of developing countries as well.
"We express concern over the growing risks of nuclear danger and conflict," the declaration said, calling for stronger disarmament and arms control regimes.
The participants also expressed particular concern over deliberate attacks on nuclear facilities under International Atomic Energy Agency safety measures.
"Nuclear protective measures, safety and security must always be respected, including during armed conflicts, in order to protect people and the environment," the document states.
The 18th BRICS summit is being held today and tomorrow in the Indian capital.
