PARIS, JULY 13 /SRNA - RIA Novosti/ - Around 900 people have been evacuated from the Les Fontainebleau forest area near Paris due to a wildfire, French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said.
"We don't have an exact number, but I would say around 900 people have been evacuated," Nunez said at a press conference.
According to him, the evacuations were mainly carried out in populated areas on the edge of the forest.
Nunez stressed that the fire broke out yesterday and has burned around 800 hectares of forest, but so far there have been no reports of anyone being injured or any residential buildings being damaged.
A team of about 500 firefighters is still trying to control the fire.
