BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 6 /SRNA/ — A fire that broke out yesterday between the municipalities of Drvar and Glamoč in the Federation of BiH /FBiH/ has destroyed several houses, while an Armed Forces helicopter was deployed this morning to help fight the blaze, Drvar Mayor Dušica Runić said in a statement to SRNA.
Runić said that fires were burning in the villages between Drvar and Glamoč - Savići, Poljice and Crni Vrh.
"The situation is critical. An Armed Forces helicopter took off this morning to help extinguish the fire. Houses burned down overnight. These are homes that people had rebuilt and visit periodically. We did everything we could to protect them. The situation stabilized somewhat overnight, but the wind has fueled the flames again," Runić stressed.
She added that the fire started yesterday when a car caught fire on Crni Vrh.
"All teams are on the ground, and forestry workers have also been deployed. I hope the helicopter will manage to put out the fire today so that it does not reach the houses in the village of Poljice," Runić said.
