STEVANDIĆ: SERB UNITY KNOWS NO BORDERS

BELGRADE, SEPTEMBER 15 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska National Assembly Speaker Nenad Stevandić said it is very important that Serb unity and culture know no borders, whether state or administrative.

"Like the Sun that shines equally over all Serb lands. It does not care about borders, and neither will Serb unity have any borders. That is mainly an issue for those who think this is some kind of obstacle. No. Our culture is all-powerful and all-encompassing, and so is our unity," Stevandić stressed.

He said it was an added symbol of unity that the celebration of Serb Unity Day continues in Belgrade following the central commemoration in Banjaluka.

"Last night, we were all together. We have been celebrating together for seven or eight years. For several years in a row, I laid a wreath together with Serbian Culture Minister Nikola Selaković at Kajmakčalan," Stevandić said.

He noted that Republika Srpska and Serbia also jointly commemorate tragic dates in Serb history, grieve together, but also rise together.

"Everything we do, we do together, and that is how it will be in the future," Stevandić told reporters ahead of the decoration ceremony in Belgrade.

Serb Unity, Freedom and National Flag Day is being celebrated today, September 15, in Republika Srpska and Serbia. The holiday was established to foster the unity of the Serb people and respect for national symbols, as well as to commemorate the breakthrough of the Salonika Front.

It has been celebrated since 2020, with the primary aim of strengthening unity between the Serb people in Serbia and Republika Srpska, as well as reinforcing the importance of the national flag.

During the observance of the holiday, Serbian tricolors are displayed on the buildings of state, provincial and local authorities, public services, as well as on private properties, with the aim of showing respect for the flag as one of the most important symbols of statehood.

The central ceremony was held last night in Banja Luka and was attended by officials from Republika Srpska and Serbia, as well as His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije.
