RIBNIK, FEBRUARY 24 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić said that the Ribnik Forestry Enterprise has recorded exceptionally good physical performance indicators over the past year, which must be the case in every forestry enterprise.
"There is a good harvesting plan for this year at the Forestry Enterprise ‘Ribnik’, higher than in 2025. There are ongoing issues that we have been discussing all along, namely the workforce, including registered employees who are not actually working, which is the issue we must resolve," Minić told the press in Ribnik.
He stated that in just over the past year there are nearly 400 fewer employees in the public enterprise, and more than 500 fewer over the past year and a half.
"Some left through severance pay, some through retirement, and some through other activities; I believe that overall efficiency among all workers would increase if we removed those who abuse the system in any way, especially those with questionable work capacity," Minić emphasized.
He pointed out that, on the other hand, all previous issues related to stockpiles, declassification, and other existing problems have now been resolved, so at this moment the Forestry Company has fresh timber assortments and an established market.
"We have achieved stabilization of the timber and forest products market, which means this is yet another directive and appeal that we will visit all public institutions, enterprises, and forestry companies and require them to continue this trend," Minić said.
He added that 2026 must be the year in which everyone moves out of deficit and demonstrates that the work done in previous years has produced results.
"I sincerely hope that this is a team that can and will carry this successfully, and that those who in some way undermined it are aware that there is no longer a place for them here," Minić stated.
He asked how it is possible that prosecutor’s offices fail to react, noting that from the perspective of general prevention this would have an extremely positive effect in the future.
"It is important for us that judicial institutions do their job, and that where we detect a problem, someone is sanctioned. If you see that someone is not working, falsifies a certificate of work incapacity, and then works privately after hours or during working hours, why would the employee who actually works maintain productivity?" Minić asked.
He says this is creating a very negative domino effect.
Minić added that he is pleased that the line ministry, Minister Anđelka Kuzmić, the director of the Forestry Company, and the general director of the Forests of Republika Srpska, Blaško Kaurin, who attended the meeting in Ribnik, share the same line of thinking.
The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of Republika Srpska, Anđelka Kuzmić, says that today’s meeting demonstrates that the Forests of Republika Srpska is improving compared to the previously inherited situation.
"Today we heard from the director of the Forestry Company, as well as from the general director, that there has been progress here in Ribnik. What was promised has been fulfilled. The job is not yet finished, and we will certainly continue to monitor it," Kuzmić pointed out.
She stated that the relevant ministry will continue in the same direction in order to complete the work that began a year and a half ago.
Kuzmić again appealed and confirmed that information will be submitted to the prosecutor’s office and the inspectorate.
"We expect that those who are guilty, anyone who steals, will be publicly identified by name and surname as a thief. Likewise, people who misuse sick leave must be called out by name and surname as dangler, and we will appeal to the Fund and all other institutions," Kuzmić added.
