BANJA LUKA, OCTOBER 9 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić said today that relations between Srpska and Serbia were improving and that the goal was to connect the scientific potential of the diaspora with institutions and younger generations so that their knowledge could contribute to the development of Srpska and Serbia.
"We wanted to extend the good relations and cooperation we have in implementing joint projects to the scientific field as well," Minić told reporters in Banja Luka ahead of the event "A Bridge of Knowledge - Science and Knowledge in the Service of Unity and the Future of the Serb People".
He stressed that the aim was to connect the scientific achievements of Serbs in the diaspora with the needs of Republika Srpska and Serbia, and to give young people an opportunity to use the knowledge they have acquired to support their development.
"Everything we do as two governments has continuity," Minić said, announcing that cooperation and future joint projects would be discussed with representatives of Serbia.
President of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Republika Srpska /ANURS/ Dragoljub Mirjanić said the aim was to connect the scientific potential of the Serb diaspora with institutions and younger generations in Srpska and Serbia.
He said the event's programme included 16 plenary and short lectures by guests from the diaspora, as well as 20 oral presentations by scientists from Republika Srpska and Serbia.
Mirjanić stressed that modern science was based on networks and connections among researchers, adding that the intention was to establish cooperation that would enable new initiatives in doctoral studies and other scientific activities.
He emphasized that the event would not have been possible without the support of the governments of Serbia and Republika Srpska.
