BANJA LUKA, FEBRUARY 25 /SRNA/ - The Prime Minister of Republika Srpska, Savo Minić, announced that BAM 960 million, or 87 percent of the external debt that Republika Srpska assumed from the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia /SFRY/, has been repaid so far, as well as BAM 673.7 million, or 98.9 percent of the debt related to old foreign currency savings.
Minić stated on the social network "X" that Republika Srpska is still repaying liabilities dating back to the SFRY period.
"After the war, through processes of consolidation, rescheduling, and write-offs, Republika Srpska assumed the 'old' external debt /obligations incurred until April 2, 1992/ in the amount of BAM 1.1 billion. So far, BAM 960 million has been repaid, and BAM 140 million remains outstanding," Minić emphasized.
He added that the largest obligations are owed to the Paris Club and the World Bank.
Minić also stated that Republika Srpska is repaying old foreign currency savings - foreign currency deposits held in banks on the territory of Republika Srpska until December 31, 1991 - with the total debt amounting to BAM 774.9 million.
"So far, in accordance with the Law on the Internal Debt of Republika Srpska, a total of BAM 681.2 million of old foreign currency savings has been verified, of which Republika Srpska has repaid BAM 673.7 million, or 98.9 percent of the debt," Minić stressed.
