ZAKHAROVA: POSITION OF SERBS IN KOSOVO CATASTROPHIC

MOSCOW, AUGUST 21 /SRNA - RIA Novosti/ - Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija are subjected to daily ethnically motivated persecution, and Moscow is calling on all international bodies to take measures to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

"The position of Serbs in the Province has indeed become catastrophic," Zakharova stressed.

She noted that Moscow continues to demand that the UN Mission in Kosovo and Metohija /UNMIK/ responsibly fulfill the tasks entrusted to it under its mandate.

"The EU is acting very unreliably after failing in all its mediation efforts in Kosovo and Metohija," Zakharova said.
