SUN: THREE CONSTITUENT PEOPLES SHOULD IMPLEMENT AGENDAS TOGETHER

NEW YORK, OCTOBER 30 /SRNA/ – China believes that representatives of the three constituent peoples should work together on implementing agendas at the level of BiH, Chinese Deputy Ambassador to the UN Sun Lei said.

Speaking at a UN Security Council session, Sun said that China has always respected the territorial integrity and sovereignty of BiH, as well as the right of all three peoples to independently choose their country's future.

He stressed that China was committed to strengthening relations with all three constituent peoples in BiH and expressed hope that the country would achieve social stability and economic progress.

Sun praised the smooth conduct of the electoral process in BiH, noting that China welcomed the fact that the situation had remained peaceful and stable following the elections.

He expressed hope that all parties in BiH would use the election results to strengthen mutual tolerance, trust and dialogue, and that the formation of new governments at all levels would help maintain political and social stability.

Sun recalled that BiH had been exposed to inter-ethnic disputes in recent years, posing a serious challenge to the country's reconciliation process.

He welcomed the extension of the mandate of EUFOR's Operation Althea.

Sun stressed the need to promote sustainable development in order to ensure lasting peace in BiH.
