NEW YORK, OCTOBER 30 /SRNA/ – Deputy Permanent Representative of Croatia to the UN Hrvoje Ćurić Hrvatinić stressed in New York that the election of the Croat BiH Presidency member with genuine democratic support from Croat voters, is an important and welcome development, calling for the formation of stable and functional institutions at all levels of government without unnecessary delay.
"Implementing reforms is essential for BiH's path towards the EU, particularly in the areas of the rule of law, the functioning of institutions and electoral legislation," Ćurić said at a UN Security Council session.
He stressed that the Dayton Peace Agreement remained the cornerstone of peace, institutional balance and the democratic division of power in BiH.
"Its principles, including the equality of the constituent peoples and the rights of all citizens, must be respected in practice," Ćurić emphasised.
He reiterated that Croatia firmly supports the sovereignty, territorial integrity, constitutional order and international capacity of BiH, as established by the Dayton Peace Agreement.
"We support the extension of Operation Althea, which continues to contribute to a safe and secure environment in BiH," Ćurić noted.
