SARAJEVO, APRIL 24 /SRNA/ – Chairman of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, Nikola Špirić, stated that the sole mission of the Bosniak caucus is to bring opposition members from Republika Srpska into the leadership of the House.
Špirić emphasized that there is no clear majority in the House of Peoples, and that the Bosniak caucus feels empowered to interfere in the Serb and Croat caucuses, attempting to transform the House of Peoples into the House of Representatives.
"The SDA, through its strength in the Bosniak caucus, is trying to build absolute unity in condemning Republika Srpska and in fostering hatred toward Serbs. This is the last attempt at the unitarization of BiH," Špirić told reporters in Sarajevo.
He noted that today's session had 119 agenda items scheduled in accordance with the Rules of Procedure, and that mandatory items cannot be removed or rescheduled.
“We are here, and anyone who wants to respect the Constitution and the Rules of Procedure is welcome. I have nothing against them blocking the work of the House — that's their right, just as Serbs and Croats have their own control mechanisms,” Špirić added.
He stressed that the only way forward is to respect the Constitution and the Rules of Procedure, and that, as Chairman of the House of Peoples, he implements the Rules — doesn't interpret them.
“Isn’t it clear that if, 30 years after Dayton, two of the three constituent peoples in BiH are dissatisfied, something is clearly wrong? We should be talking, but the Bosniak political elite seems like lost children in the woods, without a foreign mentor to tell them what to do,” Špirić said.
He added that Serbs and Croats want to have their rightful place at the table in Dayton-based BiH — a place where they can debate, propose, and decide — and that they reject the narrative: “We are BiH, and if you don’t like it, leave.”
