SARAJEVO, 25 AUGUST /SRNA/ – At today's session, members of the Presidency, Denis Bećirović and Željko Komšić, rejected putting on the agenda the initiative of the Serb member Željka Cvijanović to nominate US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
According to SRNA findings, Bećirović and Komšić resorted to various excuses to avoid taking a position on the matter.
They justified their stance with alleged formal shortcomings, and Bećirović went so far as to complain that the initiative did not specify the year for which the U.S. president was being proposed, even though it was obvious and unnecessary to mention.
The absurdity of this excuse is highlighted by the fact that similar initiatives, which SRNA reviewed, did not include such details even from other countries that have previously nominated Trump for the Nobel Prize.
Cvijanović supported including the initiative on the agenda, while Komšić and Bećirović hypocritically abstained, which was enough to prevent the Serb member's initiative from being added to the agenda.
Serb member of the Presidency of BiH Željka Cvijanović submitted an initiative to the Presidency to nominate US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
In the explanation of her initiative, Cvijanović underlined that during his second term, President Trump achieved results through his diplomatic engagement and personal authority that left a significant mark on international relations and contributed substantially to the stabilization of numerous global crises.
