TEHRAN THREATENS STRIKES ON GULF STATES IN CASE OF NEW US ATTACKS

TEHRAN, AUGUST 5 /SRNA-Reuters/ - Iran has warned Gulf states that any new United States attack on its territory would trigger retaliation targeting critical energy infrastructure across the region, five sources said.

Two senior Iranian officials, two sources from Gulf countries and a senior regional diplomat familiar with the talks said that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi had spoken with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Qatar, as well as Pakistan's army chief.

According to one of the sources, Araghchi urged US allies in the Persian Gulf to use their influence on Trump to deter him from launching new attacks, warning that any strike on Iran would trigger retaliation targeting US interests and energy facilities across the Gulf.

According to the sources, the warning was conveyed through a series of high-level diplomatic contacts after US President Donald Trump threatened on July 28 to launch attacks on Iran's energy network and infrastructure.
