BELGRADE, NOVEMBER 7 /SRNA/ - Political scientist Nenad Kecmanović said that the positions of the United States, China, and Russia, the world's major powers, point to the conclusion that the abolition of the Office of the High Representative /OHR/ is inevitable.

In an opinion piece for Politika, Kecmanović noted that, unlike Russia and China, which are calling for the OHR to be abolished immediately and unconditionally, the Americans support the current OHR leadership as long as it is headed by their own Luis Crishock.

However, he pointed out that the US also believes that the future of BiH must be in the hands of its peoples and elected representatives, and that local leaders should assume full responsibility for making political decisions independently.

Kecmanović believes that the fate of the OHR is also sufficiently illustrated by the fact that Crishock did not even attend the latest UN Security Council meeting on the situation in BiH to defend his report.

"Crishock was instructed not to interfere in his own job, but merely to occupy the vacant position in the OHR building in an acting capacity in technical mandate so that another German, such as /Christian/ Schmidt, would not unlawfully move in again," Kecmanović said.

In his assessment, the general atmosphere suggests that Bosnia is ripe for a breakup, both externally and internally, as this would effectively amount to international recognition of the situation on the ground.

"This is unlikely to happen any time soon, probably not until the wars in Ukraine and Iran are over, although no one is concerned about how this would play out within BiH itself, but rather how it would affect the situation in the surrounding region, which is in a state of turmoil," Kecmanović said.

He believes that the abolition of the OHR, on which the three superpowers have brought their positions considerably closer, according to Western analysts, would be a giant step forward for Republika Srpska.
