CVIJANOVIĆ: KOMŠIĆ SPOKE IN UN SECURITY COUNCIL SOLELY ON HIS OWN BEHALF

ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, OCTOBER 31 /SRNA/ – The member of presidency Željko Komšić spoke before the UN Security Council solely on his own behalf, and not on behalf of BiH or the Presidency as a collective body, the Serb member of the Presidency of BiH Željka Cvijanović stated.

“With false accusations against Republika Srpska and worn-out stories about secessionism, Komšić seeks to justify foreign interventionism while concealing Sarajevo’s unitarism. Sarajevo is desperately defending the instruments of foreign intervention because it sees them as tools for its political agenda,” Cvijanović said.

She added that this is yet another confirmation that BiH lacks any common vision, including of itself.

Cvijanović emphasized that Republika Srpska believes BiH, through the brutal actions of various high representatives, has been turned into a laboratory, contrary to the Dayton Peace Agreement.

According to her, the state-building experiments carried out in that “laboratory” have destroyed internal trust and dialogue, degrading the purpose of democratically elected institutions.

“After 30 years of experimenting, the harmful consequences of foreign interventionism must be eliminated, which reached its peak through the actions of Christian Schmidt. It is sad to hear representatives of political Sarajevo claim that BiH can survive only thanks to the illegal interventions of high representatives or the actions of foreign judges in the Constitutional Court of BiH, who have dismantled rather than protected the BiH Constitution,” Cvijanović added.

She stressed that Republika Srpska believes that instead of the laboratory apparatus called the Office of the High Representative /OHR/, efforts should be focused on strengthening the democratic capacity of institutions at all levels of government, reforming the judiciary, and erasing the harmful effects of Schmidt’s actions.

“The stance of the EU in supporting the mission of the High Representative is discouraging and disappointing, as it shows a lack of vision and the absence of a clear approach to BiH, preventing it from positioning itself appropriately,” Cvijanović wrote on X.

On the other hand, she noted, it was encouraging to hear the statement by the U.S. representative, who once again reaffirmed the position of President Donald Trump and other U.S. administration officials that the state-building era is over.

“Republika Srpska remains committed to peace and stability, as well as cooperation with all in BiH and the region,” Cvijanović concluded.
