NEW YORK, 30 OCTOBER /SRNA/ – US Deputy Ambassador to the UN Tammy Bruce said that the situation in BiH is getting closer to fulfilling the promise made under the Dayton Peace Agreement that BiH would address its own challenges and that its leaders would develop "local solutions".

Speaking at the second semi-annual UN Security Council session on BiH, she said that the USA welcomed the extension of the mandate of EUFOR's Operation Althea, which continues to contribute to stability and security in the region.

Bruce stressed that the hard work is only just beginning following the general elections in BiH. She noted that Washington wants to encourage elected representatives to form governments at the local, entity and state levels and to justify the trust placed in them by voters.

She emphasised that the USA keeps supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of BiH in accordance with the Dayton Peace Agreement.
