BALTA: OPERATION ALTHEA OF VITAL IMPORTANCE FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF THE DAYTON ACCORDS

NEW YORK, OCTOBER 30 /SRNA/ – Greece welcomes the adoption of the resolution extending the mandate of EUFOR's Operation Althea in BiH for another year, as the mission is of vital importance for implementing the Dayton Accords and maintaining a safe and secure environment in BiH, Greek Ambassador to the UN Aglaia Balta has said.

"The Dayton Accords remain the cornerstone of preserving peace and stability in the country," Balta said at a UN Security Council session on BiH.

She stated that "Greece offers its unwavering support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, unity and political independence of BiH".

"We firmly emphasise the need to respect its constitutional framework and the institutions established under the Dayton Accords," Balta said.
