BALTA: DAYTON IS THE FOUNDATION OF ACHIEVEMENTS IN BIH

NEW YORK, MAY 12 /SRNA/ - Greece's Ambassador to the United Nations, Aglaja Balta, stated that the Dayton Peace Agreement has been the foundation of BiH's achievements over the past three decades and that those accomplishments must not be jeopardized.

"The Dayton Agreement remains the cornerstone of these achievements, it must be preserved, and all three sides must respect it," Balta said at the UN Security Council session.

She added that Greece "will continue to support strong and effective democratic institutions in BiH that contribute to the country's stability, cohesion, and development."

Greece remains committed to the Dayton Agreement and its institutions, including the Office of the High Representative /OHR/, and supports the appointment of a new High Representative through the Peace Implementation Council, Balta said.

"We will continue to unequivocally support the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence of BiH. Moving away from divisive narratives and separatist rhetoric is essential for strengthening trust and promoting reconciliation in BiH," the Greek ambassador to the UN emphasized.

She also supported the holding of a competitive, free, fair, and democratic pre-election campaign ahead of the October elections, as well as the continuation of BiH's European integration process.
