WILDFIRES DESTROYED 4,350 SQUARE KILOMETERS OF FOREST THIS YEAR

BRUSSELS, JULY 30 /SRNA/ - Wildfires in the EU have destroyed a record 4,350 square kilometers of forest since the beginning of the year, the European Forest Fire Information System /EFFIS/ announced.

The EFFIS states that 1,407 wildfires have broken out in Europe since the beginning of the year, TASS reported.

According to EFFIS, the total area affected by wildfires in Europe is 434,976 hectares.
