BEIJING, OCTOBER 21 /SRNA/ – The US decision requiring federal civilian agencies to stop using artificial intelligence-based products and services provided by Chinese companies undermines conditions for fair market competition and hinders normal business cooperation with China in this field, China’s Ministry of Commerce announced.
The Ministry emphasized that China advocates a balanced approach to development and security, stressing that artificial intelligence must also remain safe and under control.
"Chinese artificial intelligence companies are continuously working to provide safe and reliable services to users around the world while complying with the laws of the countries in which they operate, earning widespread international recognition as a result," the Ministry stated.
The USA, as assessed, has taken discriminatory and restrictive measures against Chinese artificial intelligence companies, citing so-called national security concerns, the China Media Group reported.
The Ministry pointed out that this move represents an unjustified expansion of the concept of national security and an abuse of administrative measures aimed at restricting Chinese businesses.
"Such actions seriously undermine the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies, conditions for fair market competition, and hinder normal business cooperation between China and the USA in the field of artificial intelligence," the Chinese Ministry stated.
It also expressed strong opposition to recently imposed US sanctions against Chinese companies over alleged “theft of trade secrets,” describing them as a malicious move that seriously undermines the companies’ legitimate rights and interests.
