U.S. ARMY: IRANIAN DRONES AND MISSILE INTERCEPTED

WASHINGTON, MAY 28 /SRNA - RIA Novosti/ - US Central Command accused Iran of launching drones into the Strait of Hormuz and firing a ballistic missile towards Kuwait, noting that all were intercepted.

The statement said that the ballistic missile was fired last night, but that Kuwaiti forces successfully intercepted it.

The command called it an "egregious" violation of the ceasefire.

The US military accused Iran of launching five drones that allegedly posed a threat "in and near the Strait of Hormuz" a few hours earlier.

The statement noted that US forces intercepted all the drones and that a sixth launch from Iranian territory was prevented.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards said earlier in the day that they had targeted a US military base that had been the site of a pre-dawn attack on a facility near the Iranian city of Bandar Abbas.

The Guards warned that no attack on Iran would go unanswered and that the Islamic Republic would act even more decisively if strikes were repeated.
