BRUSSELS, May 11 /SRNA - RIA Novosti/ - Nearly six billion euros of the first nine billion euro tranche of the EU's 90 billion euro loan to Ukraine will go to military needs, European Commission spokesman Balazs Ujvari said on Monday.
"We expect to be disbursing about 9 billion euros in the course of June the latest, which is still within the second quarter, and this would be broken down as follows: there would be 5.6 billion euros for defense purposes and 3.2 billion euros under the microfacial assistance program," Ujvari said during Commission's Midday press briefing.
Ujvari could not confirm Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos's statement that the first money from the 90 billion euro loan would be transferred to Kiev as early as next week.
