WASHINGTON, NOVEMBER 6 /SRNA–Reuters/ – US President Donald Trump said he had held a private meeting with Kirill Dmitriev, an envoy of Russian President Vladimir Putin, and that the conflict in Ukraine is close to an end.

Trump did not disclose what he discussed with Dmitriev, but said that an agreement aimed at resolving the war in Ukraine could be reached soon.

He told press that ending the war could have implications for the entire Europe.

"This will be a major deal and will involve more than just Ukraine. I might even say that it could involve entire Europe. It will be a big, beautiful deal, and everyone will be happy," the US President said.

Dmitriev also met with Ukrainian representatives at the White House in a meeting organised by US First Lady Melania Trump.

The US President said that he had not met with the Ukrainian delegation last night.

Trump has frequently said that an agreement ending the largest conflict in Europe since World War II is close, while negotiations have accelerated over the past few weeks.

A US delegation is expected to mediate between Russian and Ukrainian representatives in talks scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi on November 10 and 11.

Trump`s envoy, Jared Kushner, said that US officials held "productive and substantive discussions" with Ukraine, NATO, and European partners at a meeting in Brussels on Thursday, focusing on security guarantees for Ukraine and the broader security architecture in Europe.
