TRUMP: I WILL MAKE DECISION ON BROADCASTING NIDAL HASAN’S EXECUTION

WASHINGTON, OCTOBER 10 /SRNA/ – US President Donald Trump said he would make the final decision on whether the execution of Nidal Hasan, scheduled for December, would be broadcast live, following widespread criticism of the proposed broadcast.

Trump acknowledged the arguments on both sides, suggesting that broadcasting the execution could deter similar crimes.

He described Hasan as a cruel murderer, adding that he was aware of the military’s preferences but would make the final decision.

His comments came a day after Vice President James David Vance expressed uncertainty about whether the execution should be broadcast live.

The case has drawn international criticism, including criticism from the Pope.

In the 2009 attack at Fort Hood military base in Texas, Hasan killed 13 people, 12 of whom were soldiers, and wounded 30 others. He was wounded by a police officer who responded to the emergency call.

His execution would be the first carried out by a US military firing squad since 1945.
