WASHINGTON, SEPTEMBER 19 /SRNA-Reuters/ – US President Donald Trump said he would create an AI Force to oversee artificial intelligence policy and regulation and would appoint an "AI czar" in the near future.
"We will not in any way hinder or stifle the growth of this incredible industry. Rather, we will cherish it, help it, and watch over it as it grows! However, we will also look for what is bad, and we can do that very easily through our already existing criminal and civil justice system," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Earlier this week, Trump said what he described as a "sick conspiracy" had been created against artificial intelligence and data centers.
He rejected calls for new federal AI regulations, saying the United States needed strong presidential leadership to oversee the technology.
US officials have said artificial intelligence will be discussed in talks with China as Trump prepares to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping next week.
