SHANGHAI, NOVEMBER 6 /SRNA/ – A robot capable of independently taking photographs of visitors has been presented at the Ninth China International Import Expo, with its most notable technological feature being a hand with 22 degrees of freedom, Wang Haojue of Sharpa Robotics told SRNA.

Wang noted that the robotic hand is comparable to a human hand in terms of mobility, design and dimensions, enabling the robot to handle objects designed for human use.

She stressed that the robot can independently pick up a Polaroid camera, adjust its hand position, press the shutter button, retrieve the photograph and hand it to visitors, completing the entire process without human assistance.

"Our hand is also equipped with a tactile sensor system that enables the robot to detect when a person has taken the photograph, after which it releases its grip and hands it over," Wang said.

She noted that Sharpa Robotics specialises in developing advanced robotic hands that are already being used in research by leading global technology companies and scientific institutions, including Nvidia, Google, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University.

According to Wang, by presenting the robot at the expo, the company aims to give visitors and media representatives from different countries a first-hand experience of modern robotic technologies and demonstrate their potential applications in everyday life.

The China International Import Expo is being held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10.
