SEVERAL BUILDINGS COLLAPSED, PEOPLE KILLED

MUMBAI, JULY 6 /SRNA/ - Five children and a woman were killed when several buildings collapsed in the eastern suburbs of Mumbai following heavy rainfall, city authorities confirmed.

At least three multi-storey residential buildings collapsed in the Mankhurd neighbourhood, Reuters reported, citing city authorities.

The heavy rains also triggered landslides on the highway connecting Mumbai and Pune, forcing the road to close and disrupting traffic between the two cities.

Air traffic has also been disrupted, along with long-distance rail services.
