MOSCOW, OCTOBER 25 /SRNA – RIA Novosti/ - Russian President Vladimir Putin said that unrest in Europe was caused by mistakes in the decisions made by European politicians.
In an interview with Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin, he said that all this was happening because European politicians were unwilling to address the root cause: their own mistakes in various areas, including the economy and finance.
Putin said that Europe is currently facing a migration crisis.
"Children of people who came to European countries from the Middle East see and feel the injustice directed at their compatriots and fellow believers," Putin emphasized.
Putin added that, to address migration problems, European countries should focus on educating those who have moved to Europe and integrating European customs and traditions into their communities.
"However, Europeans cannot pursue such a policy because they are destroying their own customs and traditions. Many people have arrived and lived there for decades without speaking the language of their host country," Putin warned.
He added that Europe lacked the resources to assimilate all migrants, which was leading to a crisis.
"We have representatives of all cultures and different faiths - Christians, Muslims, Jews and Buddhists - and they have no other homeland. Russia has historically developed as a multiethnic and multiconfessional state, whereas this is not the case in Europe. They have another homeland. That is a huge difference," Putin said.
Protests began in France in mid-September, when high school students in Paris’s suburbs took to the streets demanding improvements at their schools. They were later joined by people dissatisfied with rising prices.
Protests were also held in several Italian cities on October 17 and 18.
In Albania, protesters demanded, among other things, the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Mass protests were held again yesterday in France, Italy, and Albania, as well as in Belgium and Spain.
