PUTIN: NATO'S ENTRY INTO THE PACIFIC REGION INCREASES THE POTENTIAL FOR CONFLICT

MOSCOW, AUGUST 12 /SRNA - RIA Novosti/ – NATO's penetration into the Pacific region increases the potential for conflict, stated Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"We see that, unfortunately, the potential for conflicts is growing here in the Pacific region. NATO is infiltrating here, new military and political blocs are being created, and new weapon systems that pose a threat to our country are being deployed and planned for deployment," Putin said.

The Russian President observed the final phase of the Pacific Fleet's exercises from the missile cruiser "Varyag".
