MOSCOW, OCTOBER 27 /SRNA – RIA Novosti/ – Russian President Vladimir Putin said he had discussed the developments in the Middle East with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

“We are neighbours, we have many common interests and we are working to realise them all. We hope that the situation will develop positively,” Putin said during talks with Pezeshkian in Moscow.

Putin noted that Russia was fulfilling all its obligations under joint projects with Iran and that the two countries were increasing bilateral trade, as well as cooperation in the energy and humanitarian sectors.

“Construction of the Bushehr nuclear power plant is continuing,” the Russian president stressed.

Pezeshkian said that relying on the USA to resolve problems in the Middle East was pointless.

“We are capable of resolving all the problems we face in the region without the USA. We should not rely on American assistance, particularly in the countries of the region,” the Iranian president stated.

The Iranian President’s Office announced that the two leaders had also discussed the development of cooperation between Iran and Russia in the oil and gas sector.
