BELGRADE, OCTOBER 27 /SRNA/ – Aleksandar Vučić, the lead candidate on the United Serbia list, believes he will return to power in two years and stressed that the Serbian Progressive Party /SNS/ faces a major reorganisation.

"We will not return to power tomorrow, but I believe that will happen in two years, perhaps even sooner. People who voted for the Student List will say they made a mistake when some of their jobs are put at risk," Vučić said.

He noted that changes had also come quickly in Bulgaria, as well as in the case of Donald Trump, who had been persecuted but went on to win again. He also cited Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, who won following an alleged major corruption scandal.

Vučić announced a major reorganisation of the SNS, stressing that the party would be open to cooperation with anyone willing to join in forming the broadest possible front against the current authorities.

"We will elect new people to leadership positions and change many things, but with renewed strength," Vučić said.

He stated that there was nothing to discuss with those who wanted to eliminate their opponents rather than demonstrate respect for democratic rules.

"It is important that we show stability, courage and determination. It took some ten years for people to say, ‘What a fool I was to take part in October 5.’ The same will happen now," Vučić told Informer.

He urged people to remain calm and not respond to provocations, adding that difficult times lay ahead and that the new government would be "anti-Serb".

"Those who organised the colour revolution are the ones directing policy," Vučić said, adding that the winning list wanted to “silence every independent voice”.

He said that, following the elections, he had spoken yesterday and today with numerous friends, including Viktor Orbán, Emmanuel Macron, Giorgia Meloni and António Costa.
