BUENOS AIRES, JULY 17 /SRNA - RIA Novosti/ - The World Cup final between Argentina and Spain, scheduled for Sunday, July 19, could be postponed due to high air pollution due to large wildfires in Canada, the Argentine portal Ole has learned.

The match is scheduled to be played in New York. However, in the USA, the match between Chicago Fire and Vancouver Whitecaps has already been postponed until October 6 for the same reason, and all events in Chicago have been postponed, canceled or moved indoors.

According to Ole, the chances of the match being postponed are still small, but this possibility has not been ruled out.

"If air pollution reaches levels that pose a health risk, FIFA reportedly has protocols in place to consider postponing the match. Tournament organizers are hoping the smoke will clear and there will be no postponement," the text says.

The final is scheduled for Sunday at 9 p.m. CET.
