PARIS, NOVEMBER 5 /SRNA/ - French police officers and gendarmes used tear gas to disperse protesters who were behaving violently during demonstrations in the French city of Lyon, the Actu news portal reported.

According to the report, protesters marching through the city threw stones at police officers and shop windows, prompting the police to use tear gas, TASS reported.

French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said earlier today that 70,000 police officers and gendarmes would be deployed across France during the protests, which had been announced in advance.
