NEW YORK, MAY 28 /SRNA/ - The Pentagon will reduce the number of troops and strategic bombers allocated to NATO, Fox News reported, citing unnamed officials.
The US administration plans to cut military support available to allies "by roughly one-third to one-half", including strategic bombers, fighter aircraft and numerous naval assets.
Fox News reported that Pentagon official Alexander Velez-Green informed officials about the upcoming changes during a meeting of NATO defense policy directors in Brussels on May 22.
Chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell told Fox News that the United States is actively encouraging allies to take greater responsibility for Europe's defense capabilities.
