BELGRADE, OCTOBER 26 /SRNA/ – The Student List has stated that it does not support storming media outlets or institutions, nor does it call for such actions.

It urged citizens to remain dignified and responsible and to disperse peacefully after the celebrations at Belgrade’s Slavija Square come to an end.

"We understand the euphoria, the emotions and the need to finally celebrate victory after everything we have been through. But it is now important that we remain dignified and responsible," the Student List posted on Instagram.

It stressed that it would "liberate the media in Parliament, through institutional efforts to fight for freedom and professional journalism".

Student List lead candidate Ilija Srdanović issued a statement following the storming of Informer television, appealing to citizens to remain calm and dignified and to refrain from any form of violence.

Srdanović emphasised that the elections were not yet over and that the election results had not yet been officially announced.

"We must remain dignified until the very end. Do not resort to any form of violence. Your Student List and your student movement are asking you to do this. Long live Serbia," Srdanović posted on Instagram.

Earlier this evening, a group of members of local citizens’ assemblies stormed Informer television, where a clash subsequently broke out between several dozen people and the police.
