CLASHES WITH POLICE OUTSIDE INFORMER BUILDING

BELGRADE, OCTOBER 26 /SRNA/ – A group of several dozen people who had earlier stormed the newsroom of Informer television clashed with police outside the media outlet’s building.

Footage of the clashes published on social media shows a group of citizens throwing bottles and pyrotechnic devices at police officers.

Earlier, they had entered the Informer television building by force, smashed the entrance doors and damaged several computers in the newsroom, where a verbal altercation took place.

Blic reported that the building had been stormed by members of local citizens’ assemblies and Dijana Hrka, whose son died when the canopy at the railway station in Novi Sad collapsed.

They surrounded Vučićević inside the building and demanded that he apologises to the “free Serb people”.

According to Blic, the incident began when members of citizens’ assemblies from the Belgrade neighbourhoods of Batajnica, Voždovac and Braća Jerković, along with supporters of the Kreni-Promeni movement, arrived outside Informer and entered its premises.

The caption accompanying a video posted on social media read, “Let’s hold an editorial meeting together,” while shouting can also be heard in the footage.

Informer editor-in-chief Dragan J. Vučićević said the group had been banging on the windows and doors and claimed that they had torn off one of the entrance doors to the television station.

During a live broadcast, he called on the police to intervene.
