"MOUNT SINAI" TO HALT GENDER TRANSITION PROCEDURES FOR CHILDREN

WASHINGTON, SEPTEMBER 4 /SRNA/ - The US Department of Justice has reached an agreement with the "Mount Sinai" healthcare system to halt gender transition procedures for children and establish a compensation fund.

This concludes an investigation into violations of the Federal law protecting children.

Attorney General Todd Blanche said that the Department of Justice is committed to holding medical providers accountable when they violate federal law and endanger children through so-called "gender-affirming care".

Under the agreement, "Mount Sinai," one of the largest healthcare providers in New York State, will stop providing these interventions to minors, including puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones, as well as surgical procedures.

"Mount Sinai" will pay a fine and allocate $2 million to provide free medical care to individuals who received hormone treatments or underwent surgery during childhood.

Former US President Joseph Biden included, through the Affordable Care Act provision of May 2021, federal funding for gender transition and hormone therapies for minors.

President Donald Trump, at the beginning of his second term, ended funding for medical institutions that provided such treatments to minors.
