MOSCOW WELCOMES U.S.-IRAN AGREEMENT

NEW YORK, JUNE 16 /SRNA – RIA Novosti/ - Russia welcomes the agreement between the United States and Iran and hopes it will bring an end to hostilities in the region, said Russia’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Anna Evstigneeva.

“We hope that this positive development will mark the end of the current escalation of violence and that all parties involved in the confrontation, including Israel, will adhere to the path of de-escalation,” Evstigneeva told the UN Security Council during a meeting on the Middle East.

The signing of a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran is scheduled for June 19 in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, Nicolas Bideau, Swiss Foreign Ministry communications chief, told RIA Novosti.
