MANILA, AUGUST 10 /SRNA/ – At least 13 people have been killed, 14 injured and nine remain missing in the Philippines as a result of the devastating impact of a strong southwest monsoon and several tropical cyclones that have hit different parts of the country, the Office of Civil Defence said.
According to the Office, more than 1.3 million residents in 10 regions have been affected by the severe weather. In response to the crisis, military, police and fire service personnel are actively participating in search and rescue operations, TASS reported.
More than 58,000 people are currently staying in evacuation centres, while around 40,000 other affected people are receiving assistance outside temporary shelters.
Relief efforts are continuing as authorities work to assist the population affected by the severe weather.
