NEW YORK, OCTOBER 20 /SRNA/ – Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Đurić said in New York that Priština had openly acknowledged that it had forcibly removed Serbs during religious and historical commemorations and treated peaceful believers and mourners as criminals.
"This is why UNMIK's mandate under UN Security Council Resolution 1244, as well as the international security and political presence, remains absolutely essential," Đurić stressed at a UN Security Council session on Kosovo and Metohija.
Responding to allegations by the foreign minister of self-proclaimed Kosovo, Glauk Konjufca, Đurić emphasized that he had referred to both Serbian and Albanian victims in his speech and had made it clear that Serbia was seeking not justice for only one side, but objective justice for all victims.
He said Konjufca's claim that Albanian victims were allegedly being ignored was, in fact, an insult to all victims.
The Serbian foreign minister noted that Priština's representative at the UN had spoken about various Serbian politicians, and told him that Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dačić had the right to speak about the raising of the national flag in Prizren, the city where he was born.
The Security Council meeting ended after Konjufca responded to Đurić's address.
