LUKASHENKO: TRUMP KEEPING WORLD FROM ANOTHER WORLD WAR

MINSK, NOVEMBER 3 /SRNA - RIA Novosti/ - US President Donald Trump is keeping the world from another world war, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said.

Speaking at the fourth Minsk Conference on Eurasian Security, he pointed out that although the US is not located in the same region as Eurasian nations, many things still depend on the Americans.

According to him, while Trump's policies may polarize the world, his actions nonetheless protect the planet from a new world war - a conflict which, in his view, could begin as a nuclear format, from which there would be no escape, even on the other side of the ocean.

Lukashenko warned that the potential for global conflict has reached a critical point, and expressed hope that the Minsk conference would yield new ideas on how to reduce the likelihood of such a conflict.

He noted that the world has never before changed at such a rapid pace, and that the level of conflict between major powers has reached its limit.

"Unfortunately, today the force of international law, with the connivance and tacit consent of international institutions, is still completely inferior to the law of force. First of all, this concerns the United Nations. With all due respect to this organization, a lot is being said, but practically nothing is being done." Lukashenko emphasized.

He recalled that the UN replaced the League of Nations - which collapsed due to its inability to prevent World War II - and noted that the UN now appears to be playing that very same role.

Lukashenko pointed out that the global system of checks and balances is not functioning, and that NATO has become an aggressive bloc with offensive military capabilities.

Speaking about the conflict in Ukraine, Lukashenko expressed his conviction that it would come to an end within the next few months.
