KUSHNER TO VISIT ISRAEL NEXT WEEK FOR GAZA TALKS

WASHINGTON, AUGUST 14 /SRNA - RIA Novosti/ - U.S. Special Envoy Jared Kushner will visit Israel next week for talks on the situation in Gaza, the Axios news portal reported, citing sources.

Nikolay Mladenov, senior representative of the Board of Peace for Gaza, is expected to accompany Kushner during the visit. They are expected to discuss the issue with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other senior officials.

An additional visit to other Middle Eastern countries involved in efforts to reach a solution for Gaza is also possible, Axios reported.

On Sunday, Netanyahu rejected a 15-item plan backed by the United States, saying that Israel would not withdraw from the Gaza Strip until the Palestinian militant group Hamas is completely disarmed.
